Colour – black, deep brown, white, grey
Size- 5-6 inches, 9 inch tail
Orgin- south America (1850)
Other species- Houses pinch, uracian tree sparrow , American tree sparrow, chipping sparrow.
People are celebrating women’s day Father’s day, Mother’s day . Do you know there is a day for our little creatures i.e. house sparrows.
Today is world’s house sparrows day because of the micro waves produced by mobiles & for many more reason the population of sparrow gone down drastically.
HOW CAN YOU CONTIBUTE TO SAVE THE SPECIES?
1.Celebrate this day in the schools & create awareness about the extinction of species.
2. Place earthen water pots in balconies
3.Place artificial nest boxes & feed sparrows with grains.
4. Go for bird watching with family members.
The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), the 125 year old organization working for wild lifer researches & conservation has appealed to bird lovers & people to come together to celebrate the day.
To save house sparrows, world wide plan is reuired where NGO’s Nature clubs, universities, schools & individuals across the world should organize awareness raising programmes.
Each one of us should get involved to save aparrows otherwise we may only hear of sparrows in stories.
