Earn while you Learn-Work your way in the UK.

The UK government allows foreign students to work part-time. The students union in the universities can help you. National Union of Students (NUS), is a voluntary organization spread across the UK to cater to the needs of students.

The work is just part time and it is not a white collar job. Students will get the work at restaurants, pubs, super-markets, gas station and so on.

Though there is no fixed wage , prescribed by the government. Currently it is 5.65 pounds per hour. Your wages will be deposited directly to your account. This is just some pocket money. This won’t support your maintenance or tuition fees.

There are different work timings for graduate and postgraduate students. Graduate students can work up to 20 hours a week and undergraduates can work up to 10 hours a week. And you cannot work beyond the prescribed time. If you work beyond the prescribed time, your student visa will be cancelled.

Some universities do allow the students to work at their computer centers , libraries or hostels. There are even jobs in various departments like assisting in projects or doing some paper work. However nothing is guaranteed.

It is not mandatory to work while you are studying. Your primary focus is to study. after studies, you will get time to earn money. Once money starts coming, students make the mistake of neglecting their studies. If you think you can work part time and raise tuition fees, you are wrong! This won’t work out. Remember, low grades is definitely a black mark on your certificate.
