No writing, just ticking


Bangalore University will introduce 50% multiple choice question for semester exams along with essay type questions.

Nearly 2.25 lakes students attached to Bangalore University need not to sprain their hands by writing lengthy essays. Instead they will answer nearly 50% of question in multiple choice modes from the coming academic year.

This was recently discussed in the meeting of principals of colleges affiliated to the university & received a positive response. They were of the opinion that multiple choice formats will ease the pressure on students. Even for the essay type questions, students should limit their answers to 150 to 200 words.

The university will provide optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets for answering multiple choice questions. This will speed up the evaluation process & students will get the results without much delay.

As per the Supreme Court order given a year ago, universities can introduce multiple choice formats for the entire question in exam. Only 50% of the question can have multiple choice formats. The SC has observed that writing if they are made to answer multiple choice question for all the questions. Bangalore University is abiding this order & introduce multiple choice format for 50% of the total marks.

The university is planning to distribute model question papers to colleges & put them on the varsity website for students to familiarize.
