Chandrababu Naidu asks his supporters to observe calm

Telugu Desam President N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday appealed to party cadre, youth and students who were agitating against his arrest by Maharashtra Police to observe restraint and not to damage public properties.

He said ,"People of Maharashtra are our friends. We have good relations with the neighbouring state. Our fight is only to protect our state's rightful interests over utilisation of river water."

He appealed to people to carry out the agitation only through peaceful means. Naidu and his supporters were arrested for the reason that they led a march to the Dharmabad town ,around eight kilometers from theMaharashtra –Andhra Pradesh border in Nanded district, and protested against the construction of Babhli barrage on Godavari river i.e. for violating prohibitory order.

Four days after the TDP chief's arrest, the Maharashtra government has dropped charges against him and intends to fly him and his party men back to Hyderabad. But the former Andhra Pradesh CM and his party men are refusing to board a plane arranged for them by the Maharashtra government. TDP members are lying on the tarmac in protest and policemen are forcibly putting each person on the 100-seater Air India plane.
At the airport, Shiv Sena workers are protesting amid heavy police bandobast.
Home Minister RR Patil said, "We had detained him for unlawful assembly in Dharmabad, there is no reason to keep him in custody endlessly." The former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had been arrested for violating prohibitory orders in Dharmabad, Maharashtra.
But Naidu has made it clear that he will not go back without inspecting the Babhli Dam project, which he started off to do.

Naidu said he had evidence Maharashtra is using our water. Maharashtra is building illegal projects, the Centre should intervene. Naidu alleges that Maharashtra is grabbing more than its fair share of water, and this will adversely affect the farmers in Andhra Pradesh's Telangana region.
